What these tools assume

Traditional units and calendars come with conventions, and each page states the one it uses.

Frequently asked questions

Is anything I enter sent to a server?

No. Dates, weights and land areas are converted in your browser from tables inside the page.

Why does the date converter stop at 2083 BS?

Bikram Sambat month lengths are published year by year. The sources checked agree up to 2083 BS and disagree on later years, so those years are refused until the official calendar settles them.

Are these tools only for people in Nepal?

They are written for anyone moving between Nepali and American conventions: documents dated in BS, gold weighed in tola, or land measured in ropani or bigha.

Do the converters show Devanagari?

Yes, where it is natural: month names, units and the Nepali form of a date are shown in Devanagari alongside English, and the typing tool writes Unicode Devanagari from English letters.
